WHILE YOU'RE ON THE 9 MILE ROUTE
A. Starting on Old Tazewell Pike/Ridgeview Rd (the Knoxville side):
From Tazewell Pike, take Old Tazewell Pike off Tazewell Pike. As of Sept 2023, Old Tazewell Pike is the new starting point for the 9 Mile route. At the end of Old Tazewell Pike, turn right onto Ridgeview Road. The 9 Mile route follows Ridgeview Rd. for about 4 miles and includes Ridgeview Heights subdivision and several participating side roads, such as Jones Rd., McNeely Rd & Henegar Rd, but always return to Ridgeview Rd. so that you stay on the 9 Mile route.
After about 4 miles, you'll come to a stop sign where Ridgeview Rd. crosses Maloneyville Rd. Go straight across to continue on Ridgeview Rd. (you'll see our signs). Continue a short distance (you'll pass about 7 houses) and you'll come to a fork in the road; this is the intersection of Fairview Rd. and Ridgeview Rd. Veer Right to stay on Ridgeview Rd. (again, you'll see our signs pointing the way). Continue about 2/10th of a mile to see Clapps Chapel Rd. starts on the Left while Ridgeview continues straight for 0.8 miles until it dead ends. (Sometimes there are sales on the "dead end" part, so our signs will guide you to either continue on Ridgeview for more yard sales or turn Left onto Clapps Chapel Rd.)
Stay on Clapps Chapel Rd. for about 1 mile and you'll arrive at Clapps Chapel Methodist Church on the corner of Emory Rd. Usually, there is a lot going on at Clapps Chapel Church, including lunch and vendors! Look for signs indicating sales across the road from the church in Gibbs Estates S/D or turn left on Emory Rd. to the first right into Scotch Meadows Subdivision where there are a lot of sales. As of September 2024, the route has been expanded again to add more of the Gibbs community. From Scotch Meadows Subdivision, turn right onto Emory Rd., cross Tazewell Pike and the next traffic light is the intersection of Fairview Rd., Thompson School Rd. and Emory Rd. The new route includes both Fairview Rd. and Thompson School Rd.; so you can turn right to shop a few subdivisions on Thompson School Rd. and then come back to this intersection, crossing Emory to shop on Fairview Rd. which will return you to RIdgeview Rd. the original route of the 9 Mile.
B. Starting in Gibbs/Corryton:
From Tazewell Pike/Emory Rd. (Harbison's Crossroads) turn left and proceed to the next traffic light to see our newest addition of Fairview Rd. and Thompson School Rd.. Turn right on Thompson School Rd. and look for sales in Wheatmeadow and Thompson Meadows S/D and perhaps others. THen return to this intersection and either go straight across onto Fairview Rd. to shop all the way to Ridgeview Rd. or turn left onto Emory Rd. to finish shopping the Gibbs community. Cross Tazewell Pike go about 0.2 miles to Scotch Meadows Subdivision on the left. Leaving Scotch Meadows, turn Left onto Emory Rd. and take the first Right onto Clapps Chapel Road at Clapps Chapel Methodist Church. Glance left toward Gibbs Estates S/D across from Clapps Chapel Church because there may be sales there too. There's usually a lot going on at Clapps Chapel Church, both inside and outside. After shopping the church, continue on Clapps Chapel Rd. for about a mile until Clapps Chapel Rd ends into Ridgeview Rd. At this intersection, you may see signs pointing to the Left toward the "dead end" part of Ridgeview Rd. that is less than a mile long. Otherwise, turn Right onto Ridgeview Rd. This may sound complicated, but we always have signs at the intersections to help you stay on the path.
Continue on Ridgeview about 2/10th mile and you'll come to a stop sign at the intersection of Ridgeview Rd. & Fairview Road. Turn right onto Fairview to shop Venice Place S/D (first right) and look for other sales along Fairview all the way across Tazewell Pike down to Emory Rd. If you haven't already shopped Thompson School Rd., proceed across Emory at the traffic light and look for sales in the subdivisions along Thompson School Rd. When finished, return to this intersection, return along Fairview, crossing Tazewell Pike again and continuing on Fairview Rd until it ends into Ridgeview Rd. Now you are back onto Ridgeview, the original 9 Mile route. Turning right on Ridgeview, you'll pass about 7 houses, and come to another stop sign where Ridgeview Rd. crosses Maloneyville Rd. Go straight across to stay on Ridgeview Rd. and continue shopping. From this point on, the route gets much simpler. Ridgeview Rd. continues for about 4 miles. Look for sales in Ridgeview Hts Subdivision (Glen Edward Dr.) and also off Henegar Rd, McNeely Rd. and Jones Rd. Finally, turn Left onto Old Tazewell Pike and shop to the end of Old Tazewell Pike which ends at Tazewell Pike or Murphy Rd. (As of Sept 2023, Old Tazewell Pike is the new start/end of the 9 Mile route.) Happy Shopping!

DIRECTIONS to the starting points
FROM FOUNTAIN CITY: Take Broadway to Sanders Road to the first traffic light at Jacksboro Pike (Smithwood/Pratt's Country Store). Go straight across onto Tazewell Pike and continue 4.2 miles to RIGHT on Ridgeview Road. Ridgeview Road continues about 5 miles to Clapps Chapel Road (many sales on Clapps Chapel Road too). Stay on Clapps Chapel Rd. for about 1 mile and you'll arrive at Clapps Chapel United Methodist Church located on the corner of Emory Rd. Look for sales in Gibbs Estates Subdivision across Emory Rd. from the Church then turn Left on Emory and look for the first subdivision on the right, Scotch Meadows. Leaving Scotch Meadows S/D, turn right on Emory Rd., proceed across Tazewell Pike at the traffic light (this is locally known as Harbison's Crossroads) and look for signs at the next traffic light which is the newest addition to the 9 Mile Yard Sale. Fairview Rd. on the left and Thompson School Rd. on the right. There are two subdivisions participating on Thompson School Rd. After you finish shopping on Thompson School Rd., return to this intersection and cross Emory to start shopping on Fairview Rd. which will cross Tazewell Pike and continue about 1 mile to where Fairview Rd. ends into Ridgeview Rd. You are back to the original 9 Mile route where you can turn to the right onto Ridgeview to shop 4 more miles, heading into Knoxville. You may see yard sale signs on side roads such as Henegar Rd., Wise Springs Rd., McNeely Rd., Jones Rd.; so watch for shopping opportunities but always return to Ridgeview. Near the end of Ridgeview, you will see a sign to turn left onto Old Tazewell Pike which is a recent addition to the 9 Mile route. This is the new start/end of the 9 Mile from the Knoxville direction. At the end of Old Tazewell Pike, you will turn left on Tazewell Pike to return to Knoxville or turn right onto Tazewell Pike to go toward Corryton or Union County. Happy Shopping! FROM WHITTLE SPRINGS or WASHINGTON PIKE: Take Washington Pike to Murphy Rd. (at traffic light). Go 1 mile until Murphy Road ends at Tazewell Pike. Turn RIGHT onto Tazewell Pike and go 1 mile to RIGHT on Old Tazewell Pike. This is where the sale begins. Follow Old Tazewell Pk to Ridgeview Road and turn right, then watch for yard sales all over the place. Shop along Ridgeview until Ridgeview ends and Clapps Chapel Road begins (there are more sales on Clapps Chapel Road). Continue shopping until you get to Clapps Chapel Methodist Church on the corner of Emory Rd. Look for sales in Gibbs Estates S/D across Emory Rd from the church. Then turn Left or West onto Emory Rd. and stop at the first subdivision on the right, Scotch Meadows. Leaving Scotch Meadows, turn right onto Emory Rd., cross Tazewell Pike and turn right or left at the next traffic light to find sales on Thompson School Rd. and Fairview Rd. Fairview Rd. leads back to Tazewell Pike where you can cross Tazewell Pike to continue on Fairview Rd. to Venice Place Subdivision on the left. Leaving Venice Place S/D, turn left on Fairview. Then, Fairview Rd. ends into Ridgeview Rd., the original route for the 9 Mile. Turn Left on Ridgeview if you haven't yet shopped Clapps Chapel Church or turn right onto Ridgeview to shop 4 miles toward Knoxville. You'll likely see signs on the side roads (Henegar Rd., McNeely Rd., Wise Springs Rd., Jones Rd., etc.) but always return to Ridgeview Rd. to stay on the 9 Mile route. Toward the end of Ridgeview, you will see a sign pointing left onto Old Tazewell Pike. This is our new extension, added in 2023. Old Tazewell Pike is less than a mile long and ends at Tazewell Pike. This is where the 9 Mile Yard Sale officially ends/begins. Turn left onto Tazewell Pike to return to Knoxville. Happy Shopping! FROM HALLS or POWELL: Take E. Emory Rd. (Halls Crossroads) North toward Corryton/Gibbs Community. Go approx. 7 miles until you come to the traffic light at the intersection of Emory Rd/ Fairview Rd. and Thompson School Rd. This is the newest addition to the 9 Mile. You can turn left to shop several subdivisions along Thompson School Rd., then return to this intersection and either cross Emory onto Fairview and look for sales along Fairview, then cross Tazewell Pike to continue on Fairview to Venice Place Subdivision (on the left) then Fairview ends into Ridgeview Rd. which is the original 9 Mile route... OR when finished shopping Thompson School Rd., you can return to the intersection at Emory Rd., turn left onto Emory Rd., proceed through the traffic light at Harbison's Crossroads (Tazewell Pike) and go approx. .02 miles to Scotch Meadows Subdivision on the left. Then continue 0.03 miles on Emory Rd. to the first Right onto Clapps Chapel Rd.at Clapps Chapel Methodist Church. There may be sales across from the church in Gibbs Estates, so look over there too. Then shop at Clapps Chapel Church and continue shopping along Clapps Chapel Rd. until it ends into Ridgeview Rd. At this intersection, you may see signs pointing to the Left toward the "dead end" part of Ridgeview Rd. that is less than a mile long. Otherwise, turn Right onto Ridgeview Rd. Continue on Ridgeview about 2/10th mile and you'll come to a stop sign at the intersection of Ridgeview Rd. & Fairview Road. Turn Left to stay on Ridgeview Rd. or turn right onto Fairview to shop Venice Place S/D on the right. All of Fairview Rd. has been added to the 9 Mile (as of September 2024) and Fairview crosses Tazewell Pike and ends at Emory Rd. where Thompson School Rd. begins. You don't want to miss the subdivisions on Thompson School Rd.; so be sure to go all the way to Thompson Meadows S/D before returning to wherever you left off (Fairview off Ridgeview Rd). Back on Ridgeview, continue a short distance (past about 7 houses) and you'll come to another stop sign where Ridgeview Rd. crosses Maloneyville Rd. Go straight across to stay on Ridgeview Rd. and continue shopping. From this point on, the route gets much simpler. Ridgeview Rd. continues for about 4 miles. Along the way, you may see signs for yard sales on various side roads so feel free to follow those signs as well, but always return to Ridgeview in order to stay on the 9 Mile route. This may sound complicated, but we always have signs at the intersections to help you stay on the path. As you approach Tazewell Pike, you'll see Old Tazewell Pk. on the left, turn for more sales. This is the last mile of the 9 Mile route. At the end of Old Tazewell Pike, turn right, to go to Gibbs/Corryton/Emory Rd. OR turn left to go to Fountain City/Knoxville. Happy Shopping! |
